What is Reliance Jio Giga Fiber: Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of fixed-line broadband service Jio Giga Fiber in India during 41st Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries. India lags behind in the Fixed-line broadband service and it is ranked low at 134th in the global ranking for fixed broadband. In countries with a better communication system, 80% of data is used through fixed-line broadband service, Ambani pointed out.
Mukesh Ambani while addressing the shareholders at the meeting announced the launch of fixed-line broadband services Jio Giga Fiber and said,
“We will extend fiber connectivity to homes, merchants, small and medium enterprises and large enterprises simultaneously across 1000+ cities to offer most advanced fiber-based broadband.”
Jio fiber will provide users Ultra High-definition entertainment on TV, Multi-party video conferencing, Voice-activated virtual assistant, Virtual reality gaming and shopping and smart home solutions, said Ambani.
“Fixed-line broadband means when you combine fix line connectivity and cloud applications with the agility and customer obsession of a small owner-driven business you empower them to compete them on level terms with larger business,” added Ambani.
Currently, it is running beta trials for JioGigaFiber in 10,000 homes and the registrations for the plan will start from August 15.
In the Annual meeting, he also said that Reliance is India’s largest payer of GST, excise and customs duty, and Income Tax in the private sector.
